What does perfume reformulation mean?

Reformulation means changing a fragrance formula while usually keeping the same commercial name. The difference can be subtle or noticeable, but newer does not automatically mean worse.

Why are fragrances reformulated?

A formula can change because of raw-material availability, regulations, production updates or targets related to performance and cost.

Is every change obvious to the nose?

Not always. Some adjustments are very small, and storage, bottle age or batch variation can be more noticeable than the reformulation itself.

Do not rely on liquid color alone

A color difference does not prove a formula change because some materials darken or vary over time and between batches.

Compare under similar conditions

Use a similar spray count, setting and weather when comparing two bottles, then follow the scent for several hours.

Look for documented evidence

A brand announcement, ingredient-list change or packaging information is stronger evidence than individual impressions alone.
