Original vs dupe fragrance: what’s the difference?

A dupe usually aims to deliver a scent direction similar to a known fragrance at a different price, but it is not necessarily identical. Compare the actual smell, performance and value for your needs.

What is the original fragrance?

It is the product released by the brand that owns and markets that fragrance name, design and commercial formula.

What is a dupe or clone?

It is a fragrance from another brand designed to offer a similar or inspired scent profile. Notes, development and performance can still differ.

Similarity does not mean identical

The opening may feel close while the middle or drydown changes substantially, or the reverse. Percentage-similarity claims are not a substitute for testing.

Price is not the only factor

Compare the wearing experience, longevity, projection, bottle size, availability and seller reliability alongside price.

When can a dupe make sense?

If you enjoy the actual scent, accept the differences and like the value, it may suit you. If you want the original experience, test the original itself.
